Watch out for the DfE campaign to tackle child abuse

Today (19 November) is ‘World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse' and we want to take the opportunity to encourage all Bristol Safeguarding Children Board members to support the Department for Education campaign 'Together we can tackle child abuse'.

We all have a role to play in protecting children and young people from child abuse and neglect. But right now, some people do not report their concerns because they’re not certain of the signs, don’t know where to report, or are worried about being wrong. This means that local councils and partner agencies could be missing out on vital information they need to keep children safe from harm.

This campaign aims to tackle the barriers that stop people reporting, educating people about signs to spot and how to report, so that children and young people at risk get the help they need more quickly. Learn more about the campaign here:

Here you'll find resource pages with gifs, graphics, videos and information on how to:

- Inform people about the four types of child abuse and neglect,

- Educate people on how to spot the signs, and

- Reassure people, and support them through, the reporting process.

Last year nearly 400,000 children in England were supported because someone noticed they needed help. Please help us get the message out that we can Tackle Child Abuse Together.
