In response to the findings from our city inspection last year, and the findings of three Serious Case Reviews regarding Bristol children, we now have access across the city to the UK’s only evidence based assessment tool for Neglect.
BSCB have purchased the licence to use the NSPCC tool “GCP2” so that we can identify Neglect early, be clear and specific about what Neglect exists within a family, and use this information to create robust plans for action to address it.
In order to use the tool practitioners need to attend a one day training course delivered by our team of accredited trainers. More information about this can be found on our website. The tool can be used by practitioners in any agency that works directly with children and families.
For everyone who does not need to use the tool themselves, but manages teams that will, or works in partnership with agencies that will be using the tool we have arranged an awareness briefing on Friday 14th September 9.30 – 11.00am at The Lecture Theatre, Level C, St. Michaels Hospital, Bristol to make sure that you all understand what this tool does, how it can help your staff and families that you work with, and why it is so effective in identifying neglect.
